This program features six works spanning from the 1970s to the present, each uniquely influenced by Asian traditions and crafted with a distinct aesthetic. This aesthetic can be described as light, transparent, and ephemeral, with a notable emphasis on recurring circular motifs at various scales. The compositions also reflect a deep connection to a variety of Asian cultural practices.
Overall, the recital is inspired by the Japanese concept of Ma, where space is not merely a pause but a canvas for expressing subtleties, breathing, or quietly anticipating the next moment of sound. This approach brings a sense of nuance and continuity that ties the pieces together seamlessly.
